Finding the Shade
June’s Heart Spotlight
J. DIEKER
June, the halfway point in our year! Perhaps some of us are shocked and cannot believe we are already here, while others have already started planning their end of the year traditions. Regardless of where we are this June, it is important to take a step back, rest, and review our year so far. A way we can review this year is if we have been meeting our goals and checking what fruits our actions have been bearing.
One symptom that you may need a break is burnout. Burnout is:
…a type of exhaustion that can happen when you face prolonged stress that eventually results in severe physical, mental, and emotional fatigue. (Scott)
Some common symptoms of burnout are exhaustion, gastrointestinal problems, sleep issues, concentration issues, or even poor functioning of your immune system. To avoid burnout, exhaustion, and a continuation of bad decisions, here are some steps you can implement for the rest of your year.
Take Some Time to Rest
Count to 10
Breathing Exercises
Take a nap
Do something you love that is lifegiving
Review Your Goals
Make a list of the goals you had set for this year
Write ways you have or have not accomplished them
Questions to ask:
Was this goal realistic?
Does it need to be modified?
Are there any new goals that need to be made for the rest of your year?
What does my current schedule look like? Is it healthy for me?
Refocus and Restart
Now that you have rested and reviewed, it’s time to refocus and renew your energy. Maybe write down and keep a couple sticky notes with your renewed goals on your bathroom mirror. I know it is cheesy, but every day really is a new day. Take each moment to carpe diem!
Wrapping it UP
This June, let’s take a moment to refocus. We can start refocusing by resting and reviewing. Remember, it is never too late to start again! There is always time to strive towards becoming the best version of yourself. At MoveUP, we cannot wait to do that journey with you.
